Burial at
sea has been a time honored tradition for mariners and those
with a fondness of the ocean for thousands of years. While
unfamiliar to most, full-body (non-cremated) burial at sea is
allowed under the jurisdiction of the EPA. This type of service
requires a casket for containment and dignity. Prior to ocean
interment, the casket is prepared to the required U.S.
Coastguard/Navy guidelines. Additionally, interment must be
carried out in approved federal waters.
Maritime Burials
by Tribute Enterprises, works in concert with select funeral
homes to offer your family this meaningful, eco-friendly and
cost saving alternative to traditional burial. During the
voyage, service, and immersion, the casket will remain
discretely veiled. The shrouded casket is gently lowered
below
the water surface before its release
for final committal. The ships bell will ring the traditional
“Changing
of the Guards”.
